Copper Theft Attempt Detected and Disrupted
Incident: Unauthorized entry / attempted copper theft
Response: 24/7 monitoring + active deterrents
Outcome: RCMP were called, and suspects fled the site
What Happened
A silver/white Ford F-150 arrived at the client site at approximately 5:00 AM. The vehicle entered with its headlights off, and activity at the front gate indicated that the individuals were attempting to gain unauthorized access.
Within minutes, nSight cameras detected two individuals moving throughout the site. One individual was observed attempting to cut wires while the other moved through the property.
The Response
The activity was immediately identified by our 24/7 manned Control Room.
At approximately 5:03 AM, the control room activated the site's deterrent system repeatedly while simultaneously contacting the RCMP.
Despite the individuals attempting to interfere with the surveillance system, the incident had already been detected, and the response was underway.
At approximately 5:05 AM, one of the individuals approached Camera 2 and pointed it downward.
The site was still being actively monitored through a secondary camera.
One minute later, both individuals were seen running from the site and leaving in their vehicle.
The Outcome
The attempted theft was disrupted, and RCMP were called to the scene.
The incident demonstrates the value of combining AI-powered video surveillance, 24/7 human monitoring and active deterrence, rather than relying on cameras simply to record an incident after it has already happened.
